Sales for Project Managers, finally a Workshop!

As a part of the program that the Localization Institute put together this year for Localization World in Paris, and in tune with both the increased competition in the Language Market and the low cost substitution of suppliers, for the first time we look to formally empower the professionals that perform in the day to day front line, and are the main interface with the customer: Project Managers.

Here’s why small companies struggle to hire consulting services… (cont.)

I am much interested in how small companies acquire knowledge and technology to improve their operations and performance. A few months ago I published an entry in this blog enlisting some of the reasons why, in my experience, small companies struggle to hire consulting services. That entry, though, expressed the point of view of small entrepreneurs when it comes to NOT hiring consulting services.

Sales staff, how to know if you need more of them

Along time, entrepreneurs I talk to regarding their sales operations have given me all sorts of reasons why they do –or don’t - increase their sales staff at a given moment.  To validate their reasons they also offer me all sorts of metrics and subjective opinions, ranging from interesting, to relevant, to superficial, etc…

About Apple’s unfair manufacturing in China: a branding issue

Since few days ago, some media were commenting on the story that Apple Inc, manufactures most of their products in China under conditions that are by all means abusive to workers. Although I don’t endorse such a practice, I got surprised all this fuss is made towards Apple, being that technology companies of all sorts, not only American but from other industrialized countries follow the same scheme to cut costs and maximize profit.

Why complicate life?

One of the best explanations I’ve found for ASSERTIVENESS, and soft sales skills in action. Of course it could mean different things for different people. Read it and enjoy it thinking sales though.

2)    Lack of exposure. Frequently having a technical profile and expertise in their field, they lack knowledge of common tools used in the corporate world, for example a buy or make analysis.

Closing a Sale is a matter of probability beyond our control... Right?

Lately I have been documenting myself with theory about stock investment and trading. Numbers and statistics are one of my hobbies. The one interesting thing is that when you go into the theory on how an investing or trading system works, you realize that it all works ultimately by the numbers, and the system that works is one that gives you good possibilities to make a profit.

Why a Project Manager can actually sell better than the average Sales Person

There are a few skills that make project managers an essential role to organizations. We have mentioned before that “projectized” companies, frequently rely on Project Managers as the pivot role in the center of the organization during the duration of projects, that is, they are the main interface among all the stakeholders, including the customer, Management, production, legal and marketing areas, and so forth.
